The Aim

The Aim and a Little of the History.....

The event is organised simply to provide an opportunity for individuals or teams to walk, run or mountain bike or take part in the new Duathlon event for their own enjoyment and satisfaction, and if they wish to raise money for a chosen charity or project, from sponsorship of friends and business associates.  The event raises an estimated £20,000 to £50,000 each year in this manner. Anybody may enter. The event is open to military and civilian, schools and colleges, individuals or teams from the UK or overseas.

A team entry must include at least four entrants or cyclists all covering the same distance.

A Little of the History of the event.....

This event is a venture organised by the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory based within the historic and ancient City of Chichester in the County of West Sussex, England.

A  similar event for walkers was first staged in 1977 and continued until 1993 when  some 8,000 entries from many parts of the world supported the event.     The event  was restarted in 1998 when 2,154 walkers took part. The Challenge has attracted some 2,000 walkers, runners and mountain bikers each year since 1998.
This year we are targeting for over to 2,500 walkers, runners and mountain bikers to participate.

The routes twist and turn over the beautiful Sussex Downs, on the Goodwood Estate and through other estates, east and west of Chichester.

The event provides the facilities for the Rotary Club and other groups and charities generally, to raise funds for their own or preferred charities by individuals and teams obtaining sponsorship for their own efforts.
